Description of Document	This is the 5-year update to a document by the same title dated July 2006. Updates are needed both to refresh the text and to reflect the XTCE 1.2 Blue Book which is expected to be approved in late 2018 following formal release from the Object Management Group. This document provides background and overview material regarding the standard and use of XTCE as a mission telemetry and command dictionary exchange standard.
