The purpose of this recommendation is to provide a standard reference architecture that encompasses the capture, management, access, and exchange of information and its long-term preservation in an archive. The intent is that this recommendation will be applicable to the entire information lifecycle and in all environments (including the Space environment - both flight and ground systems).

There is no current standard, but there are possible items that can feed into this project. EU LTDP project and individual Space Agencies may have materials that may directly address some portions of this standard. There are several CCSDS architectures that may inform our architectural work.
