Improved Coding Schemes for the Proximity Link Project Created

CCSDS 211.2-B: Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol—Coding and Synchronization Sublayer. Blue Book. This Recommendation specifies Proximity space links. This Recommendation contains the Coding and Synchronization Sublayer specification originally published as part of CCSDS 211.0-B-1, Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol. Objective of this Project is to propose the addition of Improved Coding Schemes as the LDPC code AR4JA (1024,1/2) to the Proximity‐1 Coding and Synchronization Sublayer. The rationale for the addition is to employ a code which provides a significant improvement (2‐3 dB) more than the current Proximity‐1 coding scheme (Convolutional only). The ultimate goal is to enhance the data return on the Proximity‐1 link by at least 30% to 40% over the current baseline without major impact to the existing Prox‐1 protocol and installed base. Backward compatibility will also be ensured.
