| Spring 2012 WG Meeting Registration Open Hosted by ESA, the CCSDS Spring 2012 technical meeting series will be held at the Darmstadtium in Darmstadt, Germany, from 16-19 April 2012. Full information is available at http://public.ccsds.org/meetings/2012Spring/default.aspx. Please check back frequently for updates as the detailed meeting agendas develop during the next couple of weeks. The technical meetings schedule can be found at http://public.ccsds.org/meetings/2012Spring/Room_Schedule_Spring_2012.pdf International visitors that require visas should already have their visa invitation letters from the Secretariat. If you have problems, contact the Secretariat at secretariat@mailman.ccsds.org. As always, registration is free, but YOU MUST REGISTER in order to attend any of the meetings and social events. Registration will close 7 days before the meeting. We encourage you to register early, because we need head counts for some events, and some items (social events, etc.) may have limited attendance.
The principal requirement for participating is that you must register and must indicate precisely which meetings you wish to attend. Total attendance is limited by the size of the facility and late registrants cannot be guaranteed a place. Please register on-line at http://public.ccsds.org/meetings/2012Spring/2012SpringReg.aspx. Once registered your CCSDS space agency will have up to 5 days to reject your registration, so please use caution when making reservations that have cancellation penalties within the next 5 days. If you hear nothing within 5 days, you have been approved.
You are also strongly urged to make your travel arrangements – especially hotel reservations - as soon as possible. Participants will be responsible for their own hotel reservations. Unfortunately, because of a very large trade fair (“Light+Building”) in Frankfurt during the Plenary week, hotels in Darmstadt will be in very short supply, and no block room arrangements are possible. As a result, we have also included the list of hotels in the Darmstadt area. We encourage you to make your reservations very early for the Spring 2012 meetings. There are a number of hotels within a short distance of the meeting venue. Please visit this PDF file at for further information. Make your reservations as soon as possible. There have been some changes to the WG lineup. Please note that the Motion Imagery and Applications (MIA) Working Group will not meet in Darmstadt. As always, look at the CWE to get info about working groups that you may be able to support with your field of technical expertise: ( http://cwe.ccsds.org/default.aspx).
We look forward to seeing you in Darmstadt and to welcome you to another important meeting of the international space data systems interoperability community.
Planning for Fall 2012 CCSDS Meetings We are currently planning the CCSDS Fall 2012 meetings that will be held in Cleveland, Ohio, USA from 15-19 October 2012. We want to prepare the needed letters of invitation for October 2012 and hand them to the attendees at the Darmstadt meeting next month. If you are planning to travel to the USA from another country for the Fall 2012 meeting and you require any sort of invitation letter to facilitate your travel arrangements, please contact the CCSDS Secretariat < secretariat@mailman.ccsds.org> at your earliest convenience so that we can prepare the letter for delivery to you in Darmstadt, or by mail if you will not be in Darmstadt. Please note that it is the responsibility of the traveler to research and communicate to us any particular requirements that we will need to incorporate into your letter of invitation. We are not familiar with the requirements of the many countries from which CCSDS experts may be departing. For attendees who were at the Fall 2011 meeting in Boulder, Colorado at the University of Colorado, we have the group photos posted online: http://public.ccsds.org/meetings/2011Fall/default.aspx A reminder about opportunities for CCSDS outreach at the SpaceOps 2012 conference: SpaceOps 2012 includes a track/topic on “Cross Support, Interoperability and Standards”, so it is a great opportunity to expose the operations community to the benefits that come from your CCSDS work. Dress for the Plenary meeting is Business Casual.
